August 21st - 25th
Dear Fourth Grade Families,
Here we go Bobcats!! I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend. It was great seeing so many of you on Friday during Bobcat Welcome. This week we will be spending time getting to know each other and making those great routines for the new school year! An important date to keep in mind this week is Wednesday, the 23rd. Fourth grade "Back to School" morning is taking place in the library starting at 7:40 am. We will be meeting as an entire grade level to communicate our information, expectations, and answer questions.
In math, we will begin unit 14, which focuses on geometry. This week students will learn about points, types of lines, and planes. Then we build on our knowledge of lines and rays to make angles; discovering how to make various types of angles. Students will be building their math vocabulary and problem solving skills as well. Keep an eye out for math homework beginning Tuesday!
In science, we will being with unit, which focuses on the scientific method and data collection. In particular, students will review the scientific method, science safety, and how to use important science tools with a variety of experiments. Students will be setting up their science notebooks, a resource that will be used all year to take notes during class discussions and experiments. Please check the "science overview" tab under the "math/science homework" tab for additional information regarding this unit, including learning targets and vocabulary lists. Keep an eye out for science vocabulary beginning Wednesday!
